Now that all the technical stuff is out of the way, I’ll introduce the author I am hosting on this hunt.
I am super excited to be hosting…

Brenda Drake grew up the youngest of three children, an Air Force brat, and the continual new kid at school. Her fondest memories growing up is of her eccentric, Irish grandmother's animated tales, which gave her a strong love for storytelling. So it was only fitting that she would choose to write stories with a bend toward the fantastical. When she's not writing or hanging out with her family, she haunts libraries, bookstores, and coffee shops, or reads someplace quiet and not at all exotic (much to her disappointment).

[Christine here - haunted libraries - YES! Brenda is definitely my kind of author!]

Brenda is showcasing her book, THIEF OF LIES during the hunt:

A little about Thief of Lies:
Gia Kearns would rather fight with boys than kiss them. That is, until Arik, a leather clad hottie in the Boston Athenaeum, suddenly disappears. While examining the book of world libraries he abandoned, Gia unwittingly speaks the key that sucks her and her friends into a photograph and transports them into a Paris library, where Arik and his Sentinels—magical knights charged with protecting humans from the creatures traveling across the gateway books—rescue them from a demonic hound.

Jumping into some of the world’s most beautiful libraries would be a dream come true for Gia, if she weren’t busy resisting her heart or dodging an exiled wizard seeking revenge on both the Mystik and human worlds. Add a French flirt obsessed with Arik and a fling with a young wizard, and Gia must choose between her heart and her head, between Arik’s world and her own, before both are destroyed.

[Christine here again - I want this book! In fact, I may need to move it up 7 notches on my TBR list!

Okay, back to Brenda's exclusive content:]

For me, my stories are incomplete unless there is a playlist for it. Full of songs that inspire and enrich the words and emotions that made it onto the page. The songs bring to life the emotions of the journey the story takes me on, where everything is a little more frightening or sweeter because it accompanies the story so magically. Today, I’m thrilled to share the songs that inspired me while writing THIEF OF LIES (Library Jumpers #1).

(***Play on YouTube to access the entire AMAZING playlist)

The THIEF OF LIES’ playlist starts with Jump by Madonna, “Are you ready to jump? Get ready to jump. Don't ever look back, oh baby. Yes, I'm ready to jump. Just take my hand. Get ready to jump…” It represents Gia’s jump through the gateway books.

I love how You Don’t Know Me by Elizabeth Gillies captures Gia’s personality with lyrics like “You look at me and there's just one thing that you see…” and “There's so much more to me than what you think you see…”

John Mayer’s Half of My Heart takes me to the place where Gia is discovering a new world and new love but she’s not too certain about both with lyrics like “I was born in the arms of imaginary friends. Free to roam, made a home out of everywhere I've been…” and “Down the road, later on, you will hate that I never gave more to you than half of my heart…”

The song that best fits Gia came from a wonderful reader, Page_Flipping_Ninja (@SaundraDee on Twitter). It’s The Way I Was from the Jem and The Holograms soundtrack. With lyrics like “I’ll go, but I won’t go quietly. Go down, but I’ll go down fighting” and “But I can’t go back, back to the way I was.” It’s a perfect fit!

Half Way Gone by Lighthouse represents Gia’s frustration with Arik and how he seems to be into her but resists. Lyrics like, “I'm hanging on but growing cold…” and “'Cause you're halfway in, but don't take too long ‘cause I'm halfway gone…” fit the struggle between them.

Then she fights demons, so what better lyrics than these from Demons by Imagine Dragons: "Don't get too close. It's dark inside. It's where my demons hide," and "I want to hide the truth. I want to shelter you. But with the best inside, there's nowhere we can hide..."

When all seems lost and the end is near, Waiting for the End by Linkin Park fits Gia’s mood with lyrics like, “Waiting for the end to come, wishing I had strength to stand. This is not what I had planned. It's out of my control…”

And when Gia longs for her life before jumping into the gateway book, there’s Home by Foo Fighters with such moving lyrics like, “Wish I were with you but I couldn't stay. Every direction leads me away. Pray for tomorrow but for today. All I want is to be home…”

Thank you, Christine, for having me on your blog today to share the THIEF OF LIES playlist. I hope you all enjoyed it.

[Christine again - wow! This music really makes me want to read this story. Thanks so much for sharing your playlist Brenda!]

It's Release Day!

Wow! This post was a long time coming. My 6th novel (and 17th book), OUTBREAK, book #2 in the Solomon Experiments, is officially out day.

This is a special release for me. I had struggled to find my fiction mojo after my last book. Related to what was going on in my personal life and some residual feelings about my mother's death, it took me nearly 2 years to reconnect with my inner artist. The struggle was worth it, though, as I figured out some things about myself as an artist that I needed.

Now, I hope all of you will enjoy the book as much as I've enjoyed writing it.

OUTBREAK is the continuing story of Dakota, an 18 year old girl wrestling with her new awareness of abilities that make her the target of a black ops group. Here is a little more about the story:

Dakota never thought she’d crave her old life in Boresville. Not until the Creator’s assassins came and took everything, everyone, she cared about—all except for David. He’s the only thing she has left, and he wants her to reclaim her so-called gifts once and for all, something that will force her into the very life she’s trying to avoid.
When a new secret reveals both hope and betrayal, Dakota is forced to face a destiny she no longer wants. Now she must learn how to trust her instincts without becoming the thing she fears most—a killer.

He should have let her forget.

OUTBREAK is available in digital format at the following locations:

It will be available in print and audio book soon.

If you haven't jumped into the world of the Solomon Experiments yet, now is your time to start. Book #1 in the series, COLLIDE, is ON SALE for 0.99 (digital only).

Here is a little more info:
The most dangerous secrets are the ones that kill.

114 days--that's how long seventeen-year-old Dakota Harrison must wait to escape her life in Boresville. But when a surprising mental breakdown draws too much attention from a secret government group called the Order, Dakota discovers that her so-called boring life isn't so boring after all. Between the lies, secrets and assassins out to kill her family, Dakota learns that there's more to paranormal activity than ghosts and cheap mind tricks. Now she must uncover the truth before a new breed of terrorism takes everything away - including her life.

Collide is available on sale at these retailers:

I hope you enjoy the series! I'll be celebrating the release with giveaways and other fun in the upcoming weeks, so keep checking in!

Thanks for all of your support.
